Alex Smith's uniform number was re-issued Monday to rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton, a fourth-round draft pick from Louisiana Tech. Also, the 49ers' veteran began on-field work Monday with coaches for the first time since the opening of the offseason program. Veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha wore No. 24. In the offseason, several numbers are duplicated with offensive and defensive players. Running back Anthony Dixon also wears No. 24. One of the players will be re-assigned a new number if both players make the 53-man roster. Each of the 11 players the 49ers players selected for their 2013 draft class were assigned their initial uniform numbers on Monday: S Eric Reid -- 35* DE Tank Carradine -- 95 TE Vance McDonald -- 89 LB Corey Lemonier -- 96 WR Quinton Patton -- 11 RB Marcus Lattimore -- 38 DT Quinton Dial -- 71 LB Nick Moody -- 54 QB B.J. Daniels -- 5 T Carter Bykowski -- 71 CB Marcus Cooper -- 33 *-Temporary.

His home in L.A. is one of architect John Lautner’s legendary residential properties and has appeared in movies like The Big Lebowski (1998). “I grew up in Milwaukee. I came out to California at the age of 18 to go to college, and then I stayed here.” “I had grown up in Wisconsin and had been very much impacted by Frank Lloyd Wright, who was also from Wisconsin. My good friend in school lived in a Wright house a block from where I lived, and my father’s business was near the Johnson Wax plant, which was designed by Wright. Before I even closed the purchase, I contacted Lautner and found out more about him—like that he had been working for Frank Lloyd Wright and had the same mentality. My father owned a small department store in Racine, Wisconsin.”
