Last game of the regular season. No reason to be complacent against the Cardinals, even though they are a team who is in a death spiral and have basically given up, after losing 10 of their last 11 games. (One of those 50 point Seattle games was against them). But a victory today guarantees us the 3rd seed which means we would host a game at the Stick next weekend. Now if the Vikings should beat the Packers at home in Minneapolis then we get the 2nd seed. I almost think that the Vikings game is far more important of a game than today but, again, I don't want to be too complacent and automatically assume we will beat these guys. But my gut feel is we get the 3rd seed today, which an off chance of getting the 2nd seed. The Vikings have more at stake than the Packers as a loss for them means this could be their last game of the season, and for the Packers it means getting the 2nd or 3rd seed.
What I like about today's game is the lack of pressure. For the players (maybe even rest a few of them in the second half) and especially for the fans. These last two weeks have been hell, sending all of us on an emotional roller coaster, beating the Patriots on the road and then getting handed our worst defeat in the Harbaugh era at home. I'm thankful we get a game that hopefully won't give us all ulcers or heart attacks.
GO NINERS AND GO VIKINGS!
