I was rushing past a newsstand this afternoon and caught a glimpse of a football picture on a cover. A month after the draft and months before training camp you don't usually find many football publications. Lo and behold, it was Colin Kaepernick on the cover. I think it was a USA Today special supplement type issue. Those aren't too bad, and only cost a few bucks. I bought one for the draft preview and before the NASCAR season started and they are fairly useful. I didn't have time to look through it in detail or even stand in line to buy it, but I caught one comment about "The Niners just keep getting better and better."I think it mostly factors in the additions/subtractions made since the draft and ranks the status of all the teams in the league in terms of Superbowl contention. Kind of like a  pre-preseason evaluation. I'll get one next week. I still have a fondness for tangible books and magazines.

Heart-breaking loss for the Sharks in game two. If they can recover from that they'll really show heart and character. They played a really gritty and poised game, only to give the Kings that late opportunity. Got to credit L.A. though for capitalizing on the power plays. Playoff pressure is so intense that even a momentary lapse can kill a team,

Phil Jackson's new book apparently will provoke a lot of controversy. Seems to be a thoughtful analysis from the one person best qualified to judge this question.
