The reason I didn't put JJ in the top 10 is his teams in Miami were average. And, hell, it isn't like not being one of the "10 best" means a coach is a schlub. Dungy is one of those guys just outside the top 10. Dick Vermeil was an excellent coach. Bud Grant. Don Coryell. Parcells, of course.

Re Spygate: on the one hand, I agree that it probably did not net them anything. On the other hand, the punishments were pitifully weak. When you consider that Eddie paid a fine of a million dollars for something unrelated to football, to pay a lesser fine and be docked a late-1st pick (while keeping an early pick), that just wasn't much. Remind me, was that late Tags or early Roger? The whole Saints punishment was nuclear comparatively.
