Jack,

You're going to base your opinion of Snyder on Arizona's front office's actions?

These are the guys who cut Snyder, and signed Chilo Rachal!!!

Now Rachal is big, and he's strong, and he's pretty darned fast for a guy his size. But he plays like a lump. He was a lump when he played for us, and he was a lump when he played for the Bears. But the Cards jumped at the chance to sign him.

Why cut Snyder? Money. They gave him a very large contract last year.

Is Snyder an experienced Center? Hmm. A nine year vet who started the first 14 games last season for the Cards, three of them at Center (Injury knocked him out of the last two). Yeah. He's an experienced Center. (Goodwin, a Guard, sat on the bench for the Jets and then the Saints for six season before they tried him at Center. 2009 was his first full season as a starting Center.)

Why am I happy? Because I thought cutting him last year was a really stupid thing to do. Because I watched all of his games and I noticed that he was playing very very well for us at Guard. I noticed that our line played much better, and our QBs were knocked around a lot less often when Snyder was on the field. I also noticed that Davis screwed up a lot less often when Snyder played next to him. (That suggests Snyder was very good at reading defenses and telling Davis what to expect.)

Snyder's failing? He's not a great man on man drive blocker. Never has been. Iupati and Boone are both better. At drive blocking. But I think the things Snyder does offer more than outweigh that failing.

I'm a happy guy, and I wish him luck.
