Jack-  Don't get me wrong.  What I've seen from Patton is impressive, and I very much want him to succeed.  But, why rush him into the lineup as a rookie, when the 49ers have the current depth that they have?  Crabtree and Boldin are going to be on the field the most.  They are the veteran, Pro Bowl/Pro Bowl caliber players at their positions.  The 49ers also have talent at the position in Manningham and Kyle Williams, who both have a few years of NFL experience, and experience in the offense.  In todays NFL, the #3 receiver gets on the field a lot.  Usually as the slot receiver.  In 2013, I see Manningham playing this position.  After that, the remaining slots(4-6)are open.  Patton could possibly be the #4 guy this coming season, but I feel that he's more likely to be the #5 or #6 wideout.  Come 2014 he'll be more likely to move up to the #3 slot.

You commented last night that I said that highlight reels don't mean anything.  I was not the one who made this statement.  I believe it was bp who did.  I personally like highlight films.  Are the the end all, be all in evaluating a player?  No.  But I do enjoy watching them.
