Howdy, Steve!  How have you been?  I definitely agree that the focus should be on the free safety spot, and building a better D-Line rotation, with the idea of getting players on the roster who will fill the void as starters once guys like Justin, Frank, and Jonathan retire in a couple of years.  We have 13 picks, several of them in the early rounds, so accomplishing these goals is very feasible.

I do have to disagree with you on a point.  You said that Baltimore stopped our pass-rush dead, and obliterated our secondary.  While that may be true in the second quarter, go back and watch the rest of the game.  The defense only gave up 7 points in the first quarter, and gave up just 6 points in the entire second half.  That's pretty darned good.  But yeah, if there is a weakness on the 49ers it's lack of a d-line rotation to keep the starters fresh, and the secondary, particularly the safeties in coverage.

Even if the 49ers have an awful draft, as it stands, this is a Superbowl caliber team in San Francisco.  And I'm predicting that the 49er offense will really shine this year.  The last several seasons the 49ers have been known for their defense, with the offense being the weak sister who depends on ball control, and field goals.  We started to see it last season, especially when we changed QB's.  This offense is going to be explosive.

Have no fear, Shores.  The final game at Candlestick will see the 49ers victorious.
