3PC? I scoff at thee ...

re: THE DRAFT

I, for one, don't really want to trade up, unless Baalke and Harbaugh are absolutely convinced they have their instantly contributing monster. I don't see this is a top-heavy NFL draft, unless you're looking for a rock star OT, which we are not.

I see the bottom of the first round being just as compelling as the middle, and I want to see the 9'ers take some chances on the best player available and NOT go for need.

For instance:

1) Zach Ertz, TE from Stanford

A Brent Jones protege' who loves the 49'ers? Who played for Harbaugh? C'mon, this is meant to be, and he would be an instant contributor and likely available at the end of round one.

2) Lattimore, RB with one of our 3rd rounders

It makes more sense for the 49'ers to draft this kid than anyone else. He's a great player who would have been a top first round draft pick if not for horrific injury. The 49'ers have the extra picks and the patience to red-shirt him on IR while he fully recovers and prepare for the future. This to me is another slam dunk 49'er pick.

3) Tyrenn Mathieu, 'The Honey Badger' with the other 3rd rounder

A potential draft steal -- yes, I know, he had lots of problems at LSU, but in the right situation with the right team he could be an incredible player. At the very least, you would have an incredibly talented return man, but he could also develop as a playmaking CB.

This is a riskier pick -- but again, if we keep our picks, we have plenty of firepower to take some chances on a guy like this.
