Ok, back to football stuff. Most articles are about lower name players trying to get drafted. Some writer hoping he was the one who revealed the next Jerry Rice or Ben Rothslesberger (sp). At least it's something to read on football these days.

Our new CB - who I'm never going to spell his name correctly, so I'll just say new CB until we get a newer one.....seems to have a bit of chip on his shoulder. I think that's a good thing. Vet players who are motivated, and JH can get production out of. Balke and JH seem to have a new twist on Moneyball. Overall though, the key is providing a team environment where the players believe they can get to the Superbowl. By not overpaying, you can afford to spread the money around. Keen draft choices give you affordable backups, and future stars. Once a contract gets too big, then you just have to let them walk and let someone else rise, or pick up a short term starter while the rookies grow. Seems prudent. And it seems to be working.

The corner the Niners have turned is having JH. Balke was bringing folks in. And building a core. Unfortuantely, there was not a coaching staff that knew what to do with it.

Go Niners.

(any one see the ERA for the starting pitching staff of the SFGiants against the dodgers....0.00. nice).
