GT, I don't see Asomugha as a safety this year. He hasn't played the position before, and they signed him to play corner. I think he will compete for a starter's spot. Brown and Culliver are young, but neither one of them has ever distinguished himself as being special in any way. We have all talked about corner being a position to address in the draft, so I can't imagine he wouldn't have a chance to play for a starting job. And I think if he plays his best and the others play their best, Asomugha will start.

bp, the stat that does not get mentioned enough for corners is passes defensed. In Asomugha's best year (the 8 ints) he also had 19 PDs (14 the year before). His year last year he had 12 PDs. That's very respectable. Being a ball hawk is not necessarily the mark of a good corner. Eric Wright had one big year as far as ints go (7) and never more than 2 in any other year after his rookie year. Don Griffin was, generally speaking, getting a couple a year. The last few years, Champ Bailey has only had a few ints a year, but he has a lot of PDs.
