Okay, a peek at the offense while I wait for a guy to come give me a quote on some landscaping.

Better.

Kaepernick gets to go through minis and camp and pre season as the starter. Cool. I think we have every reason to expect him to be even better next season, and last season he was good enough to get us to the Super Bowl.

The Offensive Line. Great shape there. The guys have been together for a while, and the longer a line plays together, the better it gets. The only question people seem to have is about Goodwin at Center. But I'm very happy to have Goodwin starting at Center this upcoming season. Sure, he's getting older, and he's never been a physical dynamo. But he plays well enough, and he's a smart, experienced Center. And an inexperienced QB needs an experienced Center.
Kilgore and Looney both spent last season learning the Center position. Another year of learning won't hurt them a bit.

At WR we have:

Michael Crabtree. Emerged as a Number 1 receiver last year.

Anquan Boldin. Great pick up. One of the best, toughest, receivers in the game.

And in the wings we've got:

A.J. Jenkins -- First round pick last season. Was redshirted. Can't wait to see what he can do.

Mario Manningham. Coming off knee surgery. We might have to wait a bit for him.

Kyle Williams. Coming off knee surgery. His injury was less sever than Manningham's, and we've already seen what a hard worker Williams is. I'll be happy to see him back.

Ricardo Lockette. Big, built like a tank, and fast as it gets. Can't wait to see if he can become an NFL receiver.

Chad Hall. Little fella out of Air Force. He's 5'8" and 26 years old. But the coaches do seem to like him.

Joe Hastings. Didn't play last year. Has spent time on our PS.

Being prudent, I think we should take a Receiver somewhere on Day 2 of the Draft. 3rd Round?

Tight Ends:

Vernon Davis is still The Man at TE. Any one else is just playing second fiddle.

Garrett Celek. Second fiddle. But he's a heck of a blocker, and he seems to be coming along as a receiver.

Running Backs:

Frank Gore has been the "Bell Cow" for the Niner running game for 8 seasons. That won't change next season, but his days are numbered.

Kendall Hunter A wonderful little change of pace running back. But he'll be trying to come back from a torn Achilles Tendon. Nothing's guaranteed.

LaMichael James. Used right, James could be one of the biggest stars on the team. Try to use him the way Frank's been used and you're looking at a short career.

Anthony Dixon. Short yardage, big bodied back. I like Dixon. Everybody likes Dixon. But I don't see him having a long career with the Niners.

Bruce Miller. Fullback. His transition from DE to FB has been remarkable. Love this guy.

I still think we have to add a big back. My favorite move would be to trade with the Vikings for Toby Gerhart. Failing that, a guy like LaVeon Bell from Michigan St. might be available to us. Bell is 6'1" 244 lbs. Last season he ran for 1.793 yards, scored 12 TDs, and carried a 4.7 yard per carry average. Like Dixon when he arrived, Bell likes to dance too much. But he could be a very scary guy behind a line like ours.

So in the draft, I think that's two mid round additions to an offense that I already see improving next season without any more additions at all.
