Still futtering around with the "Kitchen Stories" thing.

Aside from the fact that the ending ticked me off... I thought there was a comment in there that was kind of interesting.

I've been watching a lot of Swedish movies and TV lately (who knew that getting hooked on subtitled Japanese TV and movies would translate over to watching movies from other countries?) and I'm learning more and more about the attitudes people have about one another.

I do see a lot of the English / Irish thing going on in the Swedish / Norwegian relationship. The Swedes have always thought of the Norwegians as stupid bumpkins. Hillbillies. And the Norwegians have always seen the Swedes as (according to my Grandmother) Right Bastards.

Lately (post the discovery of North Sea Oil) the Swedes have modified their attitude. Now they think of the Norwegians as Lazy, stupid, unemployed hillbillies who live off the state dole.

Interesting that the two test groups to be studied by the Swedish academics, were Women and Norwegians.
