Bummer. Delanie Walker has come to an agreement with the Titans. Good for him, sad for me. I've always enjoyed watching him play.

At the moment they are also saying Goldson is being flown to Tampa in a private jet to have his meetings with them. Figured.

My point of view concerning the Free Safety position. Guys like Ronnie Lott changed the Free Safety position. They became big hitters. Little Linebackers.

Well... I think the league is going away from that style of play, and I think they are going away from it as quickly as possible. I think the big hitters, guys like LaRon Landry, are going to be fined to death.

That's why I hope we're looking for a Free Safety who can cover. A Free Safety who has range. A guy who's judged more on how many ints. he comes up with, as opposed to how many "woo-licks" he delivers. Things are changing, and the team that gets out ahead of those changes... wins.

I've mentioned a couple of names lately. Nnamdi Asomugha, a 31 year old cover corner... who played both Free And Strong safety throughout his college career. He didn't move to Corner until he got to the pros. He's one heck of a tackler (Not a hitter, a tackler) and he's got great ball skills. Moving to safety is pretty natural for corners who start getting older, and lose a step. He knows defenses, he knows the safety position, and he's smart.

The other guy is Chris Culliver Culliver started his college career as a WR. He was switched to Free Safety early on. He has great range, terrific speed for a safety, and great ball skills, stemming from his time as a WR. The only problem I see with Culliver at FS is the fact that he's dumb. Could be a problem if he's charged with running the defensive secondary. I think he's coming along nicely as a Corner, but I think he'd be a better Free Safety.

Win

I see the argument the fella on the other page was making... but I'm a much bigger fan of Whitner's than I am Goldson's when it comes to the SS position.

Again, I'm not insisting, I'm just noodling.
