Cliff Avril, Detroit Lions pass rusher
Avril expects to hit the jackpot on the open market, perhaps drawing interest as an outside linebacker as well as a defensive end. For a player who has feasted on single coverage provided by a talented Lions' front four, Avril has yet to turn in a dominant season with more than 11 sacks.Avril does not fit as a 3-4 defensive end, nor is he suited to play OLB in the 3-4. And like the blurb says, he's never turned in a dominant performance despite drawing only single blockers. I doubt the 49ers are going to pay him the king's ransom that he's looking for. It's just not their style.BP- You do realize that the reason for the defenses drop-off in production was due to injury and fatigue, don't you? Justin and Aldon will be back healthy next season, and adding better quality depth and using it will help eliminate the fatigue factor.
