Jack - It's a perception thing on Abraham. Technically two games missed since 07. But a bunch of games where he plays a few plays in the game and leaves with some kind of injury of the week. Yet another case where stats don't always tell the whole story. Tends to rack up a bunch of sacks against bad teams, when it least matters. AND, in the biggest games, is nowhere to be seen. Don't you remember watching this past Seattle/Atlanta playoff game? Where was John Abraham when his team needed him in the clutch? On the sideline, taking a knee, where he usually is in big games. Where was he in the Title game vs the 9ers? Completely irrelevant, if he even played. Where was he during the Atlanta playoff game against Green Bay a couple years ago? He was all over the place....as the invisible man. No thanks to John Abraham. He has waaaayyy too much of an uncanny ability to not be there when needed most.

So....you'll scoff at Cliff Avril because he played on a team that had other players with "dirty" reputations(Suh), and pass on him in free agency because of that, but Mr. "work ethic" himself John Abraham is ok???  C'mon man. You can't hold it against Avril because Suh was a dirty player!

I couldn't care less what kind of teammates surrounded Avril in the past. The guy plays, he works hard, has tons of talent, and on the right team could be a sack machine beast. That out-weighs any kind of perception of the guy's former team in my book. Which is irrelevant anyway, because if signed by the 9ers, I'm quite sure Harbaugh would make it clear he'd be representing 9er ethics. Not to mention, he's only 26, which is 9 years younger than Abraham! Avril is a very good young player just waiting to have a breakout season with a good team, whereas Abraham is coming to the end and would be a bad investment with little return at this point.
