BP,

I think you're right about Goldson. A lot of the problems with the secondary, not all, we're due to injuries on the DL. Justin gets hurt, Aldon disappears and the secondary gets torched more. If the team focuses on getting six strong guys to rotate on the line at DT and NT then I think the pass rush will improve enormously. People like Aldon and Brooks start playing like defensive ends cause the middle is plugged up with all the double teaming. Also getting Justin more breaks so he's fresh by the end of the season. I think this will help the secondary. Giving Ryan or Flacco all day back there to pick us apart with great receivers won't make any safety look good. They should wait until Goldson gets his best offer, and if its not too ridiculous, counter and exceed it. I think we gotta keep Donte and Dashon back there, keep the brothers together, for us to make another legitimate run. Our most important area on the team to seriously address is the DL. Everything else can be tweaked and improved incrementally. But as we saw, one guy (!!!) gets hurt, that being Justin Smith, and the whole thing falls apart. Mac and Soaps are okay but we need Justin level talent to anchor this defense. RJF level of talent won't cut it. So I'd say pay Goldson and use the majority of our cap money left, and/or draft picks, on people like J. Smith, or a Michael Carter kind of guy. There's your guarantee of shutting down the Hawks and getting back into the big show. Six DL guys and rotate them continuously. Keep in mind we also have to pay a new kicker with some of that 3 mil we save from Akers.
