Robinson was a Free Safety at Mich. St. Not a Strong Safety. The highlight people love to show him tackling, because even though he's undersized he tackles well. But he's a Weak Side Safety, and at least in college, he played a solid Center Field.

As to my endorsement of Spillman... nothing more than he's there, he's played very well on STs, and the coaches and front office thought well enough of him to give him a fairly sizable extension last year. He's under contract for the next two years for 1.5 per year. Not a fortune by NFL standards... but this front office doesn't like to pay big money to Special Teamers. Somebody sees something in him.

By the way... I'm not pounding the table and shouting that we have the next great safeties on the roster already. I don't know. I'm just mentioning that they are there.

And if we're talking about which round a guy was taken in... Goldson was a 4th rounder. He barely got on the field as a rookie. Suffered through some injuries. Struggled with an attempted conversion to Corner Back. Then struggled again moving back to Safety. And has really only been what you'd consider a quality safety for the past two and a half seasons.
