Kevin, when Spillman has been on the field with the #2 defense I have not been impressed. That might be because our back-up corners are not that good, but I have not been impressed by his cover skills, either. Robinson is a 5'9", under 200 lbs. Strong Safety. Now, everyone here knows how much I rail against height/size prejudice, and there are examples of small safeties who are good. The obvious one to me is Bob Sanders. However, while Sanders was 5'8," he weighed over 200 lbs. and ran a 4.35. Robinson is lighter and therefore less effective against the run and was almost a full 10th of a second slower. That much difference is significant. And the smaller the safety is, the faster he needs to be. There was a reason why Sanders was a 2nd-round pick and Robinson a 6th-rounder.
