I think the fans suffered most of the adversity but poor Alex takes the money irregardless. I agree with Arnold that I wouldn't want to face Alex twice a year with the Cardinals, not because of the competition he would bring but because of the bad memories of losing. Back to the 49ers, the main focus now is how best to maximize the draft picks we have to chase rookie talent and the extra salary cap money we have suddenly freed up to chase some veteran talent. With the focus now on building a champion football team we can turn our attention to who we will acquire to help this club win championships with an analytical state of mind versus who we used to have on the team when we were perennial losers with a maudlin state of mind. ;-) Maybe it's finally time to move on and win some Super Bowls and finally drop the 8 year Alex Smith saga. How many players have left this team in the past 8 years and why only one tugs at the old heart strings, the only one that made about 40 million dollars? I'm just glad that that adversity is finally over. Alex is a professional and has done extremely well in his career. You have to admire success in any form. But now it's time for the 49ers to enjoy success and end the 8 year fan adversity.
