I know that Goldson and Soaps will probably cost a fair amount, but I think it comes down to one question: do we want to re-load or load? Sure, there may be some good safeties, but if you let Goldson (a Pro Bowler) go and draft a safety, even if he is good, you have not improved the team. If you let Soaps go and draft, say, Jesse Williams, you have gotten a player who might be better than Soaps, but you have not addressed the defensive line rotation. And if you let Ricky Jean go, you could draft another DL, but you will not have improved the rotation. So I would rather we re-sign at least two of those guys and then be able to add to the team rather than just staying the same. We know what happened to the defense when it got worn down.
