No reason why we shouldn't spend a day airing opinions about the running back positions, but we do have bigger fish to fry this offseason. The defensive line and the secondary have quickly become prominent areas of concern. Whether it's new players or new coaches, fresh talent and thinking is needed for both units.

When my pea brain has a moment, I'm going to have a look at the free agent possibilities there. Off the top of my head, while I foresee Revis returning at more than 90 percent of the level he was at pre-injury, it's unthinkable that this 49ers regime would give what would be required to bring him across to the Bay. But this team needs a pass defender of his caliber in the worst way. I'm still optimistic about Culliver in spite of his disastrous Super Bowl, but the experience of watching that outing certainly changed my thinking about his chances of developing into a Pro-Bowl level cornerback. At best now, he could be properly hidden on a unit that had added a bona fide shutdown cornerback.
