GT, one thing to remember about BW's getting rid of players before their talents declined too much is that it was pre salary cap. You could outbid teams for the top talent when a free agent hit the market, and Eddie made life really attractive. That isn't possible anymore. BW also regretted cutting Ronnie loose in Plan B. I agree that we need to find a replacement for Frank, but I don't think that means an either/or situation. My desire would be to find someone whom we could groom. Like we want to find someone who can learn from Justin and work into the rotation. We have two good backs in Hunter and James, and we need another between the tackles back like Frank, but that doesn't mean we have to get rid of him. Like Kevin said, this would be an upgrade over Jacobs and Dixon. I don't know if Gerhardt would be that guy, but I like Kevin's thinking (and I do think Gerhardt would be an upgrade on those two).

I think one thing about Harvin is the simple fact that he would either be a one-year rental or someone who would cost a bundle. I don't know if Baalke is interested or not, but I am sure he is completely cognizant of having to pay Crabtree a lot of money in a year or so and having to afford Goldson now, as well as some others. And I am sure Harvin's medical issues would be something he would think about.
