Kendall Hunter was better than Frank this year. They were both great, but Hunter was better.

It's not just a matter of who had the higher yards per carry, its when the yards were gained (8 yards on 3rd and 9 on your own 20 yard line is almost worthless; 4 yards on 3rd and 3 on the opponent's 20 is tremendous), who they were gained against (5 yards per carry against an NFC West defense was a lot more impressive this year than 5 yard per carry against the AFC East), how often they dropped the ball...

That's why I prefer the various advanced stat metrics to traditional stats, and according to what I consider to be the best advanced stat site, Gerhart was notably worse on his carries this year than you would expect your typical backup running back to be on those same carries in those same situations.

To be fair, he was actually quite good on his receptions. But I don't think that's enough reason to target him, since passes to the running backs haven't been a feature of our offense the past two seasons. And I think, if we really needed another runningback, the front office that landed Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James can do better than Toby Gerhart in the draft.
