It's the drive Uncle Kevin nuts season.

I read a blurb from Maiocco about the possibility that the Niners might be interested in trading for Percy Harvin from the Vikings.

Now... Harvin is a wonderful talent. Top notch. And at a position where we could use some help.

But I was puzzled about the possibility. Harvin is a starter at Minn. He's a star. And he's still under contract. So I started reading a few stories about him, and he seems like one heck of a head ache. He's under contract. But he wants a huge payday. And I mean huge. And he's the guy who has so much trouble with migraine headaches that he misses whole training camps... misses games... misses a lot of time.

The more I read about his history with the Vikings, the less impressed I was with him. Certainly not impressed enough to offer a top draft pick to get him on a one year rental.

Thing is... as I clicked on the Harvin stories, I kept running into lots and lots of stories and rumors about the possibility that the Vikings might be putting Toby Gerhart on the trading block this off season.

Gerhart is going into his contract year. Gerhart plays behind Adrian "freakin'" Peterson. Gerhart was not drafted by the coaching staff that's running the Vikings right now. And we wouldn't be talking about a first round pick to get him.

Gerhart's college head Coach? Harbaugh. The designer of the run game that Gerhart flourished in while at Stanford? Greg Roman. The guy who called all those running plays for Gerhart at Stanford? Roman. (Shaw ran the passing offense.)

He's the "Cudgel" if we're smart enough to get him now. As I've said before... Power Backs tend to have short careers in the NFL.
