Win

I know you know this, but I'll say it out loud (as it were) just for the heck of it.

Kaepernick isn't the "Quarterback of the Future". Kaepernick IS the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback. He has been since the Bears game in week 11. He is, and will be for the foreseeable future, the "Face of the Franchise".

Discussions about what Smith might or might not have done are as relevant as discussions about what Joe, or Steve, or Jeff, or Shaun, or Trent, or J.T. (all former Niner QBs) might have done in a given situation.

Re: the HOF conversation. I probably shouldn't enter into this one because I don't care a rat's pa-toot about the HOF. But my guess is... Frank doesn't have a chance. Even if he breaks the 10K mark next season he still won't be in the all time top twenty for running backs. And without a top ten berth, and a couple of big rings, he'd have to be a lot better at doing TV, and glad handing with the reporters.

I'd rather root for him to get a ring. The odds are a lot better.

Jack

You mentioned, the other day, that there are some Alabama players you'd like to see the Niners draft. And in that post you seemed worried that people would dismiss your opinion, thinking that you made it simply because you are a homer for Alabama.

Here's the thing, Jack. You are a homer. It's not a secret, and it's not a sin!!!

You watch Alabama play football. And I for one think more of your opinions about players you've actually watched play football, than a list of names and rankings put out by someone we don't even know.

Kiper and McShay (is that his name?) have value in that they report the names of the players coming out, the positions they've played, their weights and heights and tested speeds. In other words, the facts. As to their opinions about where those players should rank, and which teams they should go to... who freakin' cares!?!!!

And though I've said it three times already... I'll say it again. I'm rooting for the Niners to take a 'bama player in the first round of this draft. But unlike you, I"m pulling for Jesse Williams, the Defensive Lineman. Other guys are flashier, but I think our most pressing need is to get a guy who can back up, and eventually replace Justin Smith. Because Smith's career is fast coming to a close, and we've seen what happens to our defense when Justin isn't there.
