And you know what else is a real Son of a B*tch about this game along with the Montana like epic comeback and all is the fact that the 49ers had an historical opportunity to be 6-0 and be the only undefeated team at any Super Bowl wins above 2.

Six and Oh. Undefeated. Everybody else loses Super Bowls like the Cowboys or the Patriots or the Giants or the Steelers.

But not the 49ers.

The ONLY undefeated team.

That's what really stings is to miss that golden opportunity.

There have been six teams who have won one Super Bowl. Three of them are undefeated.
There have been four teams to win two Super Bowls. Only Baltimore is undefeated. Now.
There have been three teams to win three Super Bowls. Two of them also lost twice in the Super Bowl and one of them lost four times.
There have been two teams to win four Super Bowls. Both of them also lost in a Super Bowl.
There have been two teams to win five Super Bowls. The Cowboys also lost in three Super Bowls and now we lost in one.
There has been only one team to win six Super Bowls. The Steelers and they have also lost in two Super Bowls.

What could have happened here is there are two teams who won six Super Bowls but only one who is undefeated.

Everybody else who has won at least two or more Super Bowls have also lost in at least one Super Bowl.

In an alternate Universe Gore runs it in for a Touchdown. We kickoff and Flacco begins to march down the field to kick a field goal. Culliver intercepts for a pick six and its game over.

That's what can make you crazy. Its not the sting of losing.

Its all the What Ifs you keep replaying in your mind trying to make sense of it all.

But Rob is right. We think this stings like a freakin' bugger - and its picking up steam, not abating for the love of god - is the players feel a helluva lot worse.

Especially our Colin Kapernick who has taken the blame upon himself.

Maybe we were safer when we had the Deer, Nolan and Singletary. We never had to feel this pain.

Maybe that was better.

Its like Jack Nicholson as McMurphy says in "Cuckoos Nest", "well at least I tried".

If you never try you can never succeed. But you also take the risk of failing.

Jim Harbaugh comes to town and gets in the big show. And we lose.

Which is better, perennial laughing stock loser or going balls to the wall over 1078 minutes of great football and failing in the final two minutes?

But there's only one relief and there's no instant cures.

Its to come back and win the bloody Super Bowl next year.

Maybe that's just crazy talk but what I just said has all the absolute immutable elements of truth.

Never Surrender.

NINERS!
