Jack, I agree, and I'm glad you said that. GT, for the first four years or so of this blog, a lot of the discussion was based on having just seen the team reach the pinnacle of the sport and the thrill most of us had in realizing that.

There's no question we will continue to blather on regardless of the result this Sunday, but I somehow think that if this blog were to be instituted after a win by the Harbaugh-led 49ers it might not inspire quite the same level of gleeful analysis that the Walsh-Seifert teams did, and I think that's because so far Harbaugh has not been nearly so verbally eloquent as Walsh was. Kevin came close to getting a handle on the current offensive part of the team's philosophy by calling it "Whack-a-mole" but I suspect that's probably a more coherent description or concept than anything Harbaugh and Roman have come up with. I see a lot of water finding a way to flow where it wants to flow, but I don't see many signs of rational channels having been dug.

It would be fascinating to see Harbaugh eventually sit down to write his version of Bill Walsh's football franchise bible; somehow I think we'll be waiting a long time for that.
