Woof. I keep hearing and reading all these "stories" about the Niners being very interested in trading for Revis, the Jets' CB.

To be honest, I think it's nonsense. I don't think our front office would have any interest in trading away our draft for the honor of getting to pay a guy who's just had ACL surgery 13 or 14 million dollars.

Maybe if they wanted to trade him for Alex Smith... naaaaa. The pin heads running the Jets think they can get a treasure basket from some poor rube. And maybe they can. I just hope it ain't us.

Thing is... it brings up the question of our D Secondary and that one's been gnawing at me for a while.

There's something wrong back there. But as I've said before... I stink at evaluating Secondary men. All I know is... we give up too much... and we do it on a regular basis these days.

And again, talking about our secondary. Because I've been thinking about it I remembered what Nate Clement used to say about Anquan Boldon. Back in the days when the Cards were actually good, and the Niners weren't, we used to play Boldon and Fitzgerald very well. And it was because, Nate said, the Niners got very physical with the Cards two star receivers. Nate said neither Boldon or Fitzgerald had any real speed. But they were strong and good at running timing routes. Nate said the secret to playing both of them was to mess with their release at the line. To bang with them. They might win the battle at the line, but if you slow their release down a bit they don't have the speed to recover.

Worked for Nate.
