I don't think you can read anything into the timing either way. We'll just have to let due process unfold. But if a team is as intense and focussed as Harbaugh's Niners this shouldn't affect their play. Maybe Crabtree might even be more driven to use the game as an outlet and 'make his statement on the field'.

Unfortunately In this day and age no sports team seems to be able to avoid the repercussions of the choices and actions of their players away from the game. I know there are resources for advise, mentoring and guidance available on most teams in various sports, and agents these days often provide financial and behavioral guidelines. But some young men with fame and money and often less than ideal upbringing do cross the line in varying degrees of severity. Whatever the truth is, let the full and fair consequences play themselves out over time and through proper legal channels.

I am glad however that I'm not an impressionable kid looking for role models in sports. There certainly are many great examples, but the culture of contemporary times breeds for more cynicism and lowered expectations. As adults we can more easily cheer for the laundry without looking for real life heroes inside them. If so, then it's a bonus.
