Win,

Glad you were “stirred”.

I figure some Bluto like speech is more fun before a big game than if I were to be droll and negative. After all no one knows who will win the game and it very well could be Atlanta so any pumping of the chest is a set up for a let down but I think just to have fun and have a party like atmosphere is just a random celebration not indicative of any projected outlook.

But it is true. We are the 49er faithful. It struck me as that earlier yesterday. All of us have been here for almost the entire 18 years since the last Super Bowl and no one stopped attending even during the years when the team was consistently under .500. It struck me that way and it really is amazing when you think of our dedication and loyalty through the thick and thin of at least half of those years.

So maybe a celebration is in order. Even if we lose we would squander this week to take advantage of some kind of revelry? In this economy there’s not much to be celebratory for but at least we all have this entertaining diversion that doesn’t have to be so serious and morose. I think here we can indulge in “escapism” instead of falling to projecting our lives into the situation.

Without needing a good reason to be goofy and for the week long virtual tailgating and for the 18 years of camaraderie and never giving up on the team is the stirring concept, nothing that I can put into words to do it justice though I might brave the attempt.

Bluto was "up" for it and was wise beyond his years. Better to be Bluto than the Black Knight.
