Actually, the Falcon defense didn't do enough on their own. It took some self destruction by Seattle in the first half to keep the score low. After early in the first half Seattle moved up and down the field. After seeing Wilson, Rodgers, Bree's, Brady in the second half of the year I can't visualize the Ryan of this past Sunday posing more of a threat. I think of him as a not quite equal to Big Ben. He can be very good and the star of winning games but against the Niner D I just don't see him dominating. But .... It doesn't mean he might not do damage. If the Niners are as sharp as they just were and avoid big mistakes they ought to win. It's there for the taking and last year's catastrophe should provide more hunger and motivation than the Falcons can muster. Just getting this far is already a moral victory for their franchise.

Great stuff, Win. I also had a lot of broader cultural fascination in my mindset when young. West coast geography was thousands of miles away and the legends and lore about frontier times fascinated me. The Niner logo of the time was a cool blend of mixed imagery. Wild West, gold mining days meets the long bombing shotgun offense. Throw in Paladin, Jack London and small hints of the music and literature then emerging and the football mystique was amplified by an alluring exoticism. At least as filtered by youthful imagination!
