Kevin, believe me, I've thought of that scene more than once! But here's something I agree with you on: Atlanta are a team to take very, very seriously. Every season, a few images burn themselves into my memory; three years ago during the 2009 season, I remember vividly the look of satisfaction on Mike Smith's face as his Falcons came to Candlestick Park and perfectly destroyed the 49ers 45-10. That was the last game of the Shaun Hill experiment (and yes, in view of the last two months, I'm going to rub it in - that nonce was your golden boy du jour, the last in a long string of third-rate QBs who were going to save you from the horror of Alex Smith) before Singletary was forced to switch to Smith as the starter. Remember how Singletary had to apologize for losing his cool after that game, and how Jimmy Raye had to re-design the offense basically from scratch? Then in 2010, the following season, still hobbled with the Raye offense but with Smith at QB and that stellar defense starting to gel, the team went to Atlanta and lost a low-scoring affair by two points to the Falcons. Same barely concealed smirk on Mike Smith's face. That was a week or two before Alex Smith started to click with his offense, and in the second half of 2010 we, at least we fans who were paying attention and not simply hobby-horsing on the same old schtick of seasons past, began to notice that Smith was beginning to mature. Jim Harbaugh seems to have been paying attention, if his pursuit of Smith to remain in SF to become his QB was any indication.

Anyways, I remember our team's recent history with Atlanta all too well. And I would enjoy nothing more than to see the smirk wiped off Mike Smith's face this weekend.

If Kaepernick wins this weekend, Harbaugh and everyone who prayed for Smith to be replaced will be vindicated. I will sing and dance. I will hoist flags and light fires and swing wenches in circles.

It will be time to hail the Kaepernickan Revolution. (What does it mean? That the universe that used to revolve around Frank Gore now revolves around the QB? Stay tuned!)

I need to see it. And to those who are baying and yelping that Harbaugh has already been vindicated - meh!
