GT - you beat me to it. 1988 Title Game at Soldier. About 10 degrees at kickoff, and it got a lot colder. But not for Montana and Rice. Both teams go like 3 and out a couple times, then Joe throws a lazer and hits Rice on an "out", Rice shakes off two defenders and breaks to the endzone, and the route is on. John Madden doing the game says, "If you would've told me Joe Montana could throw an "out" like that today, no way I would've believed it." 28-3. Destroyed them. Eddie D on the sideline toward the end of the game in his FUR coat, celebrating with the players.

That game is special to me. I think I've told the story before, but I had just won a big national bench press competition in Dixon, Illinois that day, and instead of a long drive back home and missing the big Title game which was about to start, I demanded we stop at the nearest sports bar and watch the game before we started the long drive. There I was, in some little sports bar in Dixon IL, the ONLY person in the room cheering for the 9ers in the middle of very hostile Bears territory. Nobody, media or otherwise, gave us a chance to win that game in brutal "Bear weather". And man, that was THE SWEETEST victory I've ever experienced as a 9er fan. I'll never forget it. Nothing is sweeter than a big road win. And I believe that was Walsh's only road win.
