Wow. That was great.

First of all, how HUGELY satisfying to beat the Packers so handily in the playoffs! Greg Roman and Viv Fangio both ran one of their best games as 49ers coordinators.

Second, Colin Kaepernick, after the pick-six and a few jumpy minutes right after, settled down and produced some great football. The running plays were special. Some of the passes were as good as can be too. So kudos to him, for coming through his first playoff game so assertively.

Third most important, for me, Justin Smith did not appear to be a liability at any point, and he appears to have gotten through the game without further injury. If he can hold up this well next week, and the 49ers win, he will have 2 further weeks to rehab for his richly deserved shot at a Super Bowl ring.

Fourth, I love how Frank Gore looks right now, a combination of fluidity and power as good if not better than he's ever possessed since he came to SF. A lot of credit goes to the O-line for opening lanes for him - and for protecting Kaepernick so well - but Frank is the man, it's that simple.

In addition, a lot of guys on this roster played well today. Starting with Crabtree, who has obviously "arrived", and working all the way through LaMichael James, Ted Ginn, Andy Lee, David Akers, Vernon Davis, Boone and Goodwin, Spillman, on and on, a LOT of people contributed to the win.

So, HIP! HIP! HURRAH!

It's going to be so interesting to see how tomorrow's games unfold. Will we host the Seahawks, or will we travel to Atlanta. Will New England add to their incredible playoff history this century, or will Houston pull what would now be considered a surprise?

CAN'T WAIT!
