Kevin and Win, I agree about the rotation issue. Losing Haralson hurt, and I agree totally about using those D-linemen on offense. I do not think, though, that it's Fangio's fault. Maybe he should stick up for his players more, but I think it's more an issue of H getting too cute with it. It's one thing to convert Miller, but he doesn't play both ways. I'd much rather have those guys developed on defense.

As to Seifert's defenses, one of the things we have to remember is that in pre-cap years you could stock up with quality players at positions. That's a lot harder now, though I was shocked by that article, too, that gave the number and percentage of snaps played by guys on defense. If you can rotate people effectively it really helps. Look at how much better Frank seems to be doing now that he has Hunter/James to spell him. It would be the same on defense for Justin et al. (And I believe that in the ND-Alabama game, Alabama was rotating 6 different defensive linemen. I don't think ND had nearly that many, and both play a 3-4.)

As to the dumbo package, here is a draft suggestion (sorry, Kevin, but this really might interest you:): Michael Williams, TE, Alabama. I'm not just homing here. My reasoning on this is to address the dumbo package issue. Williams is nowhere near the overall TE that Zack Ertz or the ND kid Eiffert. They are a whole level better . . . as receivers, as total TEs. They will also both go in the first two rounds easily. Williams, however, while a decent receiver, certainly nothing special, is a very good blocker and . . . weighs 270 pounds. Why put a 335 pound DT in the backfield who is not as quick, when you could put a 270-pound TE back there? Or if you put him on the end of the line, instead of Kilgore, for instance, you have someone who actually could be a receiver and therefore make the defense take that option account. Scouts Inc. grades Williams as a 61 or middle round draft choice. We have two 5th rounders, so if he were available he might be a player to take.
