GT and bp, re nailing a quarterback turned blocker: are you talking about the Lynch TD run when Wilson sprinted down the sideline and sort of blocked the DB? If that's the case, no one had a shot to lay him out. If you are talking about a different play, I'll go with what you said, which is to treat him like any other blocker, and I don't disagree with that at all. But that doesn't mean you go to knock a guy out. In fact, good football would suggest the opposite. To truly knock a guy, quarterback, receiver, whoever, on his butt means you have to go with enough force that you will probably take yourself out of the play because you have to commit to that player as opposed to getting past the guy to make a play. If you look at any play where the linebacker or safety or whoever makes a great tackle or delivers a big hit, it doesn't happen after the guy made another big hit. Goldson doesn't crush people right after launching himself through someone else. You need to focus on the runner and get by anyone in your way, not try to put the guy in your way out. You don't see offensive linemen run downfield and make blocks after pancaking someone. They seal the first guy and move down for the next one.
