Rob,
They also need to get Frank Gore up and over the 100 yard mark.
People need to remember that 100 yards a game is pretty rare nowadays because of the running back by committee and the size and speed of defenses. 1,000 yards a season is still the benchmark, but only 12 guys made it. Then do the math and you realize that's (only) 62.5 yards a game. And yet only 12 guys averaged that. Only 6 guys averaged over 80. The guys who used to get the 100/game were getting 20+ carries a game. Emmitt Smith got 22/game for most of his career in Dallas. In his first years, when he was most productive, Dickerson was getting 25 a game. Jim Brown is a really good example of the math. Jim Brown rushed for under 1,000 only twice in his career. He was well over 4 ypc in each of those seasons (4.7 in one of them). But he only had 16 carries per game. The rest of his career he got 20-24. So don't think Frank will ever get 100/game again, and don't think the OL is not doing its job if he doesn't. At 16-17 carries per game, which is what most backs are getting now, he'd have to average 6 yards a carry to do that. AP was the only back who did that this year.
