Win, re Akers and Walker: I don't think Akers got hurt on that long kick is the misses didn't start showing up until a few games later. The only reason I can see keeping him in the line-up so much longer is he is making those kicks in practice. I mean, what coach would keep a kicker who is missing 50% of his kicks in practice? Therefore, it's something about game conditions that is the problem. But no matter how you slice it, Akers shouldn't be our kicker. As to Walker, he's been running long routes for a long time. He caught long passes (over 20 yards) in 7 games this year. Ultimately, it comes down to if you are on the field you make no excuses, and anyone who plays as many snaps as he does and gets thrown to as much as he does (targeted 39 times) has to be ready and able. We don't cut Ginn any slack, and we shouldn't cut Walker any slack. The obvious difference is that Walker does make big plays at times. I am certainly not in favor of benching him, but if there were a TE in the draft who had good speed and better hands, or a big but "slow" (for a) wideout (which was what Walker was), then I might well draft the guy. Put the pressure on.
