Another advantage of the Vikings winning on Sunday and giving us the 2nd seed and thus the bye week is to rest the defense. That’s probably the key reason why the Hawks were able to put up so many points against us last Sunday is because the defense was so worn down from playing 92 plays (!!) on the field against the Patriots. They came out flat against the Hawks where normally they could’ve held them to half as many points. After all, the 49er defense is number one in fewest points allowed but they were totally fatigued from that brutal game at Foxborough on Sunday night in the rain way out on the east coast.

We need to rest our guys and get them ready for the playoffs and getting that bye week would be a god send but it all hinges on the Vikings at home in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis.
