Nameless Faceless Opponents

Who we play... Where we play... doesn't matter.

It's all about How we play.

Thus spoke The Walsh.

Beating the Cards this week is the only goal. And even though the Cards have been awful, of late, this is a great chance for the rest of our Defense to put on their big boy pads and show that the Niner Defense isn't a one man band.

Justin Smith has a "partially torn" triceps, and a dislodged bone spur. Hope will be held out that he'll come roaring back in time for the play-offs. Fat chance.

If he can come back, and play the way he always has before... groovy. But I think the rest of the guys have to assume that's not gonna happen. And it's up to them to do their jobs.

I do expect a heavy dose of running this week. Beanie Wells has even told the media that in this game he will be auditioning for 31 other teams. Uncool thing to say in public, or not, a lot of the Cardinal players do have something to play for on Sunday. Their careers. And if the Niners play with the same sort of self indulgent attitude they played with last week... they'll lose.
